What You Need to Know About the Carnival Liberty

Ship

When we went on the Carnival Liberty, we had only been exposed to two other Carnival ships, both of a smaller class. So, the Liberty seemed huge in comparison! It also featured the Fun Ship 2.0 upgrades that we had previously not been privy to. (Now a necessity when cruising Carnival.) The one take away from this ship was that the crew kept it immaculate. We always saw the someone cleaning, from polishing chrome to cleaning windows. This was probably the cleanest ship we have ever been on. The crew was also top notch as far as customer service. Although this ship has waterslides and such, we did not partake on this cruise. We did, however, make good use of the Serenity area for adults (this was a kid-less cruise for us!) We also were able to find quiet decks to relax on that were not included in the Serenity area, away from the hustle and bustle but close to the buffet. The rooms were spacious and the food was good, especially the burgers at Guys's Burger Joint.

Itinerary

The itinerary was AWESOME. We discovered that we absolutely love every single one of these ports! At the stop in Cozumel, we decided to take the ferry over to Playa del Carmen. Here we just walked the city and had the most amazing street tacos with the SPICIEST of salsas. The next stop was Belize. There, we went to Mayan Ruins at Altun Ha. Then, to Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan. Here we went zip lining in the rain forest! And lastly, we were at Grand Cayman. Here, we enjoyed a beach day. Like I said, awesome itinerary.

Highlight

The best thing about this cruise wasn't the cruise itself. It was the itinerary. Although, this cruise was great; a beautiful ship, great crew, and burgers at Guy Fieri's Burger Joint.

What's Missing?

As great as the Carnival Liberty is, the only thing I would say it is missing is daytime entertainment. Don't get me wrong, there is entertainment if you are into the line dance classes and trivia. But, if you are not, be prepared to get some quality rest or reading done.

Main Takeaways

This ship was pretty good. Although, the daytime entertainment was lacking, we still enjoyed ourselves. So, bring a book or load your mobile devices with movies and tv shows. The food on this ship was pretty on par for Carnival and the same goes for the drinks. This was before we started doing drink packages (a MUST now!). The best thing about this trip was the itinerary. We thoroughly enjoyed going to Belize. And this was the first time when in Cozumel, we decided to take the ferry over to Playa del Carmen. The ship was always clean and the crew was always helpful. Our steward always referred to us by name and we were greeted by everyone with a smile.
