What You Need to Know About the Celebrity Edge, 2018

Summary

Our cruise on the Celebrity Edge was more than we could have ever expected. It was everything we thought it would be plus more. From the modern and fresh design to the delicious and cool, new food concepts, this ship had something for everyone in every age range. Our only complaint about this cruise was that it was WAY too short!

The design on Celebrity Edge was made to feel like it was more like a floating boutique hotel. We fell in love with it as soon as we stepped onboard. I'm pretty sure Terry fell in love with it before then. He followed all of the press about this ship from start to finish! The entire ship felt like a piece of art and it had beautiful pieces of artwork all over as decor. One of my favorite pieces was a pirate ship made entirely out of pearls!

Itinerary

Because this was a preview sailing, the itinerary was a 3-day cruise sailing to Nassau, Bahamas from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. Because we have been to Nassau many times, we decided to actually do something that we hadn’t ever done before. We decided to try out the Aquaventure excursion at the Atlantis Bahamas Resort.

This was so much fun! Terry and I got to let our inner kids come out as we saw the fish and creatures in the aquarium and then play at the water park. To see more about our day at Atlantis Aquaventure, check out our YouTube video.

Highlights

The highlight of this cruise was the ship itself. There was so much to see and do that we are eager to go on another trip. We loved the entertainment and the production shows. The costuming and the music was unlike any other ship we have ever been on.

We spent a lot of our time exploring the ship and seeing every cool thing that we could find. We loved the food and the cocktails! Although we only ate at the specialty restaurants onboard, the food was phenomenal.

We thoroughly enjoyed Eden. This lounge by day and entertainment hub and restaurant by night is simply beautiful! From the live plants, and comfy seating everywhere to the entertainers running around playing hide and seek, Eden was a joy to sit and enjoy a couple of cocktails in during the day. On our last night, we enjoyed the dinner and show in Eden. Unbelievable!

We also had so much fun at Le Petit Chef at Grand Bistro. This was so cool. This was probably one of the Top Five dinner experiences we have ever had at sea. The animation concept here was too adorable and presented in such a fun way. And the food was just as yummy.

What’s Missing

Although we were only on the ship for a few days and did not get to experience all that this fabulous ship could offer, the only thing that I could think of that this ship was missing was late night eats. The buffet, as amazing as it is, is not 24 hours.

This ship, even though the concept of this ship doesn’t really fit, does not have water slides or movie theaters or things like that. But this ship doesn’t need things like that. It provides enough fun activities to where things like water slides seem out of place.

Main Takeaways

This ship is amazing and definitely worth every penny it costs to sail on her. It can be on the pricey side but this ship has so much to offer. From the cool technology and the fabulous rooms to the beauty and design and delicious food, this ship has something for everyone. We found that this ship would fit for multi-generational family travel, as well as romantic couple getaways. We did feel that some of the artsy concepts probably would not fit all age groups. But, since our sailing, we know that Celebrity has also modified a bit of the entertainment and activities to not be so bold or artsy. They have scaled it back just a tad. We feel that the price is worth it because it is a longer sailing. Most Celebrity Edge sailings are at a minimum of 7 days. Premium price for a premium length.
